Heavy Rain Mini Review

Quite possibly one of the best gaming experiences I have had this year. While yes the year is still young, and there are still so MANY games that will release this year, nothing will have you at the edge of your seat like Heavy Rain. The story is centered around 4 characters that are involved with figuring out who the Origami Killer is. While playing the game it does feel as if you are watching an interactive drama, from the dialog to the visuals.

Speaking of the visuals, this game is the most visually impressive console game I’ve ever played. It amazes me how detailed everything was, from the products at a market, animals, and especially the character models and environments. I have never seen water effects on a face done this well. It was just so amazing, that often I went back and replayed some chapters and noticed new details every time.

The script is very well written. With a game this good you would have thought it was a game based off a movie. I am already looking forward to the live action version of this game once New Line Cinema gets all its ducks in a row for this film. Each character has a very unique personality that you get familiar with as you play the game.

Game play to me is spot-on. The control scheme gives players a new way of playing a game. With the game being so visually simulating, I often found myself forgetting to interact with the game’s button cues. The game does use some very simple mechanics by using the SIXAXIS features in the controller (ie. Moving the controller up to jump) and button presses while in action sequences.

Overall this game should be a must to anyone with a Playstation 3. It should be sitting next to Killzone 2, Littlebigplanet, Metal Gear Solid 4 and 2009’s Game of The Year winner, Uncharted 2.

ahh can't wait to play it xD
I'd love to try the motion controller play in this game 😀
I saw a few trailers, the animation looks very nice and 3D-ish ^^
