Before I begin I would like to dissolve any confusion with the term “Vaporware” and the company of the same name with this definition from Wikipedia.org
Vaporware is a word used to describe products, usually computer hardware or software, not released on the date announced by their developer, or announced months or years before their release. It usually implies a negative opinion of a product, and uncertainty that it will eventually be released. The word applied to a growing range of products including consumer electronics, automobiles, and some stock trading practices.
All right now that we have that out of the way, welcome everyone to this new segment of “WTF Gamers!?!” Today’s subject is Vaporware. Through the years we have had many promised games that never showed up, like being promised as a child to be taken to that amusement park you’ve always wanted to go to and no one ever showed up as you sat on your stoop looking for that non-existing ride to awesomeness. Games like Starcraft Ghost or Champions Online for the Xbox360 and now more recently when I was asked about DC Universe Online for the PS3, sadly I felt totally let down again.
I witnessed DC Universe Online last year at NYCC (New York Comic Con) and I had some questions of concern relating to the aspects of the game. For example, I was asking about the fight at “Star labs” dealing with the escape of Doomsday. They said that in this “Boss” fight; Doomsday has escaped thanks to Lex Luthor and his peons and it is up to Superman with the help of you to stop Doomsday. I say “PAUSE!” because let me get this straight Superman, me and another human partner vs. Lex Luther, his peons and FREAKING DOOMSDAY!?!? WTF MAN? I was asking why this was not a big superhero event because frankly if you read “Superman’s Dead” comic book that was a long battle which he took out Blue Beetle and his crew with the final onslaught with Superman. For the record, he lost that fight dying or as they say was just in a deep coma while Doomsday was just knocked out to wake the next day. Anyway, coming back to the point that it should be a huge weekend event fighting Doomsday with the help of all, even villains since Doomsday chooses no sides.
The end result of that interview at the press conference left a bad taste in my mouth towards DC Universe online and now a year later still nothing. I ask you the reader to tell us which superhero or super villain is your favorite and why in no more then one paragraph. I know what you’re thinking, “What do I get by giving out such awesome geek knowledge?” I will sweeten the deal by giving away a special edition “DC UNIVERSE ONLINE” poster that was signed by all of the developers. The way to obtain this nice artifact is to leave a comment with your best explanation on why you like that superhero or villain you have chosen. The best answer from our panel of comic loving judges will decide. The contest will determine after we get the first 10 posts and after we review your comments we will choose the winner a week after. All right my rant is finished, as always stay frosty gamers.

I would normally say Batman but after the awful recent movies that nearly ruined the franchise.. I'm going to have to say Poison Ivy, she alone spices up the villainous side of life. With Uma Thurman as her movie counterpart, and green lycra covering.. nearly her entire body, it makes the old Batman movie one to watch countless times. Not only that, she played a decent sized role in Batman's latest game and once again ruining Batman's plans, making Poison one to love.
