Ok boys and girls, I’m going to make this nice, short and simple… Time Crisis is known as one HELL of an arcade shooter and we expect the same to be said for the home version – BUT OF COURSE, it’s issues galore! It all started when I was a young little boy… shooting the $h!t out of sprites and 3d targets created by the all mighty Namco. As the many years passed, many Time Crisis games have come and gone, but out of all the ones that I’ve owned, this one stuck out like a sore thumb.
I promised I’d keep it short and simple so here it goes (keep in mind, I’m using the Playstation Move):
- The calibration goes off randomly: You will find times where you “aim” your move controller out of the screen, and you aim at your target, spot on, right? well… the icon says you’re WAY OFF! oh and not to mention that while you stay still, the cursor (your target icon) will in fact move… Bifuteki staff are witnesses to this incredible phenomenon.
- You can’t map the re-load action on to your navigation controller’s buttons, so when you have a gun-add-on for the move like I do; you’ll have to aim, shoot, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand PRESS THE MOVE BUTTON WITH YOUR OTHER HAND TO RELOAD IN THE MOST AWKWARD WAY EVER IN THE HISTORY OF THIS GAME’S SERIES!
- While the value is DEFINITELY there, you can’t excuse the fact that Time Crisis 4 is extremely better than Razing Storm… matter of fact, the pirate shooter game is better than Razing Storm… sad, right?
- Knowing the graphical powerhouse that Namco/Bandai is, you’d think they’d stop with these jagged edged on-screen characters… yeah… that’s right, I said it… these graphics pretty much blow for next-gen console.
All in all, if you’re into arcade shooters, buy it for the two games included in the disc… NOT Razing Storm… matter of fact, I suggest you don’t buy it, and if you did… do what I’m about to do… go trade it in for the next “Move” game… I totally should have done that when I bought The Fight: Lights Out – now THAT’S a great game! Rest assured I’ll be writing about it shortly… I’m too sore to write about it right now.
Dear Namco/Bandai, update Time Crisis to let me map the reload to another controller and I might keep this. If you don’t, I’ll personally mail it to your offices with a nice “thank you for wasting my time and money” letter 🙂
Love always,
Obi-1
