Back at E3 when the game was first announced, there were vague details as to what kind of Steam elements were gonna be added to the Portal 2 experience. Those details have finally surfaced. For the first time ever on the Playstation 3, gamers will be able to go head to head with PC and Mac gamers. Yes that’s right, cross-platform gaming, however this feature is not available on the Xbox 360 version. Along with the cross platform multiplayer, Steam cloud for game saves so that you can take your gaming from the Playstation 3 to your PC or Mac that has Steam installed.

Portal 2 project lead Josh Weier explains that Valve has designed the cross-platform experience to be hassle-free: “PS3 gamers will be able to simply drop the Bluray disc in the PS3, link to their Steam account from inside the game, and all their Steam friends (on PC and Mac) will be visible and accessible for chat and game invites.”
