SDCC 2011: Mezco Toys

While I am still working on my goals of making it to E3 and San Diego Comic Con one day, I was fortunate enough to be invited by Mezco toys to take a good look at some of their EXCLUSIVE toys that they will have at SDCC in a couple of weeks. These figures are special variants that will only be available at Comic Con or on the Mezco website in limited quantities so if you are going to San Diego you might want to pick up some of these babies!

There were a few figures shown to me but here are three of my favorites:

20 inch Lion-o Figure

This was my favorite figure base purely on my love for the cartoon back in the day. This figure is impeccably detailed, from the look of Lion-o’s hair to the jewels on his claw shield. This particular variant comes with two removable heads, one with glow in the dark eyes and the other with an open mouth yelling expression, the long and short versions of The Sword of Omens, and an alternate Claw Shield. For fans of the series this is a definite must have for your collection.

13th Anniversary & Resurrection 5 Living Dead Dolls

When reviewing these toys I was surprised to learn that The Living Dead Doll line was celebrating it’s 13th anniversary! So to celebrate Mezco is releasing a special version of their first Living Dead Doll, Sadie, in a party dress and 13th anniversary birthday hat. Along with Sadie there will be a Resurrection line of five dolls that were previously released but re-imagined with new outfits and glass eyes. The dolls are creepy on their own to begin with but the glass eyes just add that extra chill down your spine. Despite the killer doll factor these figures were nicely constructed and the outfits are nicely done.

20 inch Batman Mez-itz

This was the piece de’ resistance! After noticing the Lion-o figure when walking into the room I saw this bad boy on the table and thought about how to get it out of the building without anyone noticing. This Batman Mez-itz is about 20 inches tall, almost the size of a small toddler, and sports a cloth cape for maximum gliding. He comes in standard black and grey with the variant in the classic blue and black colors. Overall this figure is just awesome and I wish I had it in my home.

There were a few other figures being shown by Mezco, including some Green Lantern/D.C. Comic figures, Little Big Planet, and a Scott Pilgrim variant figure that you can check out in our gallery below. Some of these figures are available for pre-order on the Mezco Direct site but if you are going to make it to Comic Con stop by their booth (#3445) and pick up a figure there.
