I got the chance to preview the Street Fighter x Tekken: Artworks book from UDON. This book is dope even if you don’t like Street Fighter x Tekken, but if you like either one of the games this is the book for you! The book has 192 of illustrations of character artwork, rough sketches, and costume designs, with creator commentary on almost every page. That was one of my favorite things about this book, was the creator commentary on each page, because I personally like to know the thought process behind artists’. Besides the great art, Street Fighter X Tekken: Artworks also features extensive interviews with the creators and designers of the Street Fighter X Tekken, which is also a plus!
Get the dirt on designing and illustrating a bestselling video game from everyone on the team, including Polygon Pictures (the visual designers for Street Fighter IV and SFXT), DIMPS (the play balancers and testers), series illustrator Akiman, and the Bandai Namco Games Tekken Team! There was a lot of parts of the book that I loved, especially the alternative costumes sketches, as well as the video breakdowns.
Some cool features in the book include:
- A spectacular collection of original artworks, including promotional art, character art, alt costumes and unused designs, stage designs, trailers, openings, endings, and more!
- Creator commentary on almost every image of the book!
- Go behind the scenes on every aspect of the creation of this title with 4 extensive interviews!
- Street Fighter X Tekken is a bestselling video game property for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Playstation Vita, with over 1.5 million units sold!
There was just so much to enjoy in this book, really can’t wait for it to be out to get it on my coffee table! The book is set to release in October 2012, priced at $39.99. This is definite for any FGC coffee table or even just a lover of video games and art! Preview copies available at PAX 2012! But in the mean time check out what else Udon has at their online store and enjoy the mini preview above.
