While it’s not a complete surprise Harmonix announced Dance Central 3 recently, what is a surprise is a new story mode feature that has been added to the hit dance series.
Dance Central 3’s newly revealed Story mode sends players back in time to learn classic dance moves alongside their favorite crews and characters from the series. Played solo or cooperatively with a friend, players will join the ranks of Dance Central Intelligence (DCI) to uncover a dastardly plot to destroy Dance Central. To put a stop to the villainous machinations of Dr. Tan, players must journey through time to learn iconic dance moves from the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, and beyond. Can DCI master classic crazes like The Hustle, The Electric Slide and more in time to prevent the ultimate dance criminal from ending the dance party permanently?
I don’t know if the game really needed a story mode, it sounds a little silly to me. Story mode in Rock Band made sense to me but this sounds like a crazy, modern version of Footloose/Breakin’ 2. Despite my reservations on story mode, the inclusion of 40 new tracks can make me overlook it and just focus on busting some moves! I do love the inclusion of 70’s era music and I can’t wait to get my Hustle on!
With more than 40 tracks on the disc, Dance Central 3 includes previously announced music by Usher, 50 Cent, Cobra Starship, and more. Today, Harmonix is announcing 9 additional tracks for the soundtrack, each with authentic dance routines created by professional choreographers, including:
Afrojack ft. Eva Simons – “Take Over Control”
Alexandra Stan – “Mr. Saxobeat”
Ciara ft. Missy Elliott – “1, 2 Step”
Cupid – “Cupid Shuffle”
Daft Punk – “Around The World”
Dev ft. The Cataracts – “Bass Down Low”
Enur ft. Natasja – “Calabria 2008”
Martin Solveig ft. Dragonette – “Hello”
The Trammps – “Disco Inferno”
