[Review] Accell Ultra AV Display Port to Dual Link Adapter

Being a fight game community broadcaster, I am always looking for a new method or device that will make my job easier. For a while I was wondering how I would be able to actually use all the display outputs of my current Radeon HD 5770. The only way I could use beyond two of them I would need a USB powered adapter. Within 2 days of learning this I was shocked to see that not only did Accell have a device that I was looking for, but that they wanted me to do a review for it. I was super excited when the device came to my house.

The UltraAV adapter is compliant with both DPCP and HDCP which guarantees transmission of video content.  The device comes with just about everything you would need. It can be hooked up to Mini display ports as well as regular display ports. The output is DVI but we all know that we can get an adapter to use whichever output we want. Having tried every adapter I am pleased to say that they all work with the device. While thumbing through the paperwork, I also noticed that the device is capable of DVI dual-Link resolutions up to 2560 x 1600@60fps as well as all 1080p@120fps and 3D.

As for my experience using the device I will say it was a pretty easy time. It helped me get the most out of my setup. The ability to use an extra monitor with my desktop or the ability to add a secondary monitor to my MacBook Pro has made my work a lot more enjoyable. With a price point of $109.99 it is well worth every cent. With the use of USB power it pretty much gets rid of the need of an external power source. I have used this device to make my current desktop into a Media Center for my entertainment setup. If you too were having the issues of trying to get more displays out of your current video card and have learned that you can get at most only 2 displays, then this is the device you need.
