Although this game is an oldie but a goodie, the improvements that SEGA added were surely welcomed. Things that have been given a face-lift are the HD graphics upgrade, the addition of the manual camera (which drove me nuts in the original), as well as all the bonus stuff in the game. Released early for Playstation Plus members, users were able to get the game before the actual release date and for a reasonable price of $8.99.
If you had this game for the Dreamcast, then you know how awesome it was! Well this port to the Playstation is just as good as the original minus the Dreamcast controller (which I loved). Everything in the game is the same as the Dreamcast version, all the awesome songs, all the great characters and all its frustrations too. I never remembered how much I hated the damn tutorial until I played it again on the Playstation, god how I despised it, especially that damn 30 tricks while grinding one. Despite my frustration with the damn tutorial level, I still love this game. Also there was the addition of bonus material, which included an original short documentary that included interviews with director Masayoshi Kikuchi, art director Ryuta Ueda, composer Hideki Naganuma, and graffiti artist Eric Haze. Other unlockable bonus material includes music from Jet Set Radio Future, playable from within the bonus menu.
If you loved Jet Grind Radio as much as I did when it originally came out then you should definitely pick up the Playstation version and relive those Dreamcast days!
