Finally Divekick is live! If you follow the FGC this game has been getting a lot of exposure at tournaments and on Twitch. I got my hands on it a bit early, so check out my review of Divekick.
LOVEs:
- The ease of gameplay – however I really wish I could use a D-Pad on the menus
- Online play is great. Despite making jokes about lag in the game, I experienced no lag at all when playing matches on line
- Simple but fun. It’s a nice break from trying to remember all the button combos for a character, Divekick is just 2 buttons and that’s it!
- The “inside jokes” are hilarious, especially with the FGC characters like Stream and Jefailey. Their quotes and sayings are spot on!
HATEs:
- No way to have a lobby where you can invite your friends. It’s very vague as to how you get into a friend’s lobby, from what I tried it looks like if your search for a private lobby then you will see who among your friends has a lobby but if you look for a public one then it’s just random.
- Some of the graphics (like the working on the screens) seems a bit unfinished
- No 2 button controller yet, this really needs to happen because I think that makes the game even more fun
- Hit detection is iffy. There were moments where I was sure my kick connected first but it supposedly didn’t.
For $10 Divekick is a great fun fighting game. It offers a break from traditional fighting games with simple controls, but no less engaging. Divekick can make the best players salty with rage!
