Saints Row IV is out and we got our hands on it early so here is our review of Saints Row IV (PS3)!!
LOVEs:
- Sandbox, who doesn’t like that you can do what you want when you want
- All the stuff from 3 is in 4 so you don’t have to learn how to do things over – who wants to do that? Also you can port over your character from SR3 into SR4 which is awesomely convenient!
- Superpowers…you have them.
- The new baddies are ridiculous. While you gain super abilities fairly early the enemies are no less easier to take down.
- Plenty to do – I spent maybe 3 hrs just doing side missions after I finished unlocking the free roam areas – you can easily spend a ridiculous amount of time in this game without doing anything!
- Dat DUBSTEP! The music overall is fantastic!
HATEs:
- Satan’s Ladder – there are too many games squeezed into one game… I feel like I’m playing Crackdown and Saints Row and GTA all at once – it was a bit overwhelming
- While you can port over your character from SR3, the voices for the characters are not as varied as they were.
- While the series is known for it’s raunchy humor, I felt like that was dialed back a little. I only got to play a few chapters but I felt like the game was a little “serious” despite you have superpowers fighting against aliens.
Overall the game is great! If you loved Saints Row 3 then you will have no problem playing this sequel, it’s pretty much the same game only with aliens and super powers. If you did not like the 3rd game do not bother playing the 4th, you will not enjoy it.
