PAX EAST 2014: Project Totem

The team at Press Play have a great game coming out soon for Xbox codenamed ‘Project Totem’. All of the Bifuteki crew sat down with the game and had a blast!

Project Totem is a playful yet precise platforming  game where players control two totem pole pieces with one controller…n top of the single player campaign, the game offers a local couch multiplayer mode where players must work closely together to succeed.

The game mechanics seem simple enough (left stick and the “A” button) but the challenge comes from trying to navigate the levels with these simple controls. Every level we tried had some new type of obstacle that had to be navigated around and when we finally cleared it we felt greatly accomplished. The local co-op feature was even more fun and engaging as we were trying to keep each other alive to get through the levels. I was told that the developers purposely did not want to have the co-op online and playing together on the couch in the booth I understood why. They wanted to harken back to the days when you played with someone next to you and engaged with them directly, laughing had having a good time and they definitely accomplished this with Totem.

We are looking forward seeing this game come out this fall on Xbox One and 360.
