Twitch Implements New VOD Policy

Today Twitch has announced their new VOD policy which will affect how recorded broadcasts will be stored and shown. The biggest change has been the implementation of an audio recognition program called Audible Magic, which automatically mutes any 3rd party copyrighted music the program recognizes in recorded videos. This is similar to how YouTube flags music on their site. The program is working very well already because there are many reports of Twitch users recorded broadcasts having been flagged for containing 3rd party music, including our own (we recently streamed Rock Band and had the entire recorded broadcast muted) as well as recorded videos on Twitch’s own page. The details of VOD policy changes can be found here and here.
