Choice Provisions—formerly known as Gaijin Games, makers of the BIT.TRIP series—is excited to announce the launch of Laserlife, available now on PS4 and Steam.

Laserlife is the first rhythm game from Choice Provisions since 2013’s Runner2. The studio has released titles such as Woah Dave!, Destructamundo, Dragon Fantasy: The Volumes of Westeria, and Shutshimi since then, all of which mark a departure of sorts from the rhythmic BIT.TRIP series that first put the company on the map. Company cofounders Mike Roush and Alex Neuse have both described Laserlife as a “homecoming” for the studio, as well as the full realization of what they learned over the course of making the BIT.TRIP games.

In Laserlife, players assume the role of an unknown entity on a mission to discover the history and legacy of a dead astronaut it discovers in space. This lofty narrative is distilled into rhythm-based gameplay where players guide two lasers through a series of different beats (known as “Memory Molecules”) which are then used to reproduce one of the astronaut’s memories, which players must then explore and discover the meaning of. It’s as crazy as it sounds.

Laserlife retails for $14.99, and review codes are available for PS4 and Steam by request. If you’re interested in checking the game out, just respond to this email.
