Demo Thoughts:
Playing Enter The Gungeon on the PAX South show floor was a treat since I only got to view the game at PAX East. The game can be compared to The Binding of Issac in that the levels are procedurally generated, so you will never encounter the same dungeon setup in every playthru. It’s also like a twin stick shooter in that the left control stick is used to move the character around the map and the right one is used to aim your gun in 360 degrees. The gameplay was frantic at times but fun with the crazy enemies coming at you from all sides. There are ways to help you from getting overrun, like using a table to flip and use as cover, random explosive barrels to shoot and reduce enemy numbers and using pillars to give you a moment to reload. There is also a pretty cool dodge/roll that make you invulnerable to damage for a few split seconds, and when timed correctly it can save your life! I was able to get through one dungeon in my playtrhu but I did die several times. The game looks like loads of fun, I am looking forward to some good rage moments in the game. Look out for Enter the Gungeon to hit PC, Mac, and PlayStation 4 in the first quarter of 2016.
