Semi-truck enthusiasts at Devolver Digital opened their impressively defined arms today and announced Indie Picnic, a free indie games showcase across the street from the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), June 13 – 15, as the company has gleefully obtained the lease to both of the remaining and coveted parking lots.
Indie Picnic is free to badge holders of any kind and will be located in the front parking lot located directly across the street from the Los Angeles Convention Center’s South Hall and will run each day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Indie Picnic includes the Devolver Public Access area offering a hand-selected lineup of stellar indie game demos from Devolver Digital and extended families Indie MEGABOOTH, X-Split, and Gambitious with hardware for the event sponsored by NVIDIA, Logitech and Alienware. The Devolver Public Access area will also include choice music, food trucks, cold beverages, an indie arcade by Polycade, and carnival games with prizes provided by Special Reserve Games. Devolver’s usual by-appointment-only game demo oasis will still be located in the back lot.
“This is the week the entire industry and fans everywhere celebrate video games as entertainment and art with numerous events now happening across Los Angeles,” said Mike Wilson, co-founder of Devolver Digital. “Indie Picnic is our way of giving back to the fans and celebrating a mutual love for games and art.”
The Devolver Public Access area of Indie Picnic is set to be livestreamed and full of questionable content for the duration of the event in partnership with best friends X-Split. All those watching from home who want to see what’s going on the week of E3 from the vantage of the outer reaches of the indie bubble will be able to tune in live all three days.
