Got to check this out at PAX East, really interesting take on the Rogue gameplay.
Quick points about the game:
- Roguelite with Some Persistence: The true hero of the journey is the sword itself, passing on from one hero to the next, keeping the progression of experience and levels the player has built up with each adventure.
- Countdown to Mormo’s Battle: The deadline for facing Mormo can seem pressing from the outset but players will quickly learn ways to slow down or even stop time to allow for more exploration before the big battle.
- Victory and Failure: Defeating Mormo is just one part of breaking the curse of this world and both victory and failure in a run will yield some effect on the next one. Success brings the world closer to the light while failure casts it further down into misery – effects of both are evident in the world and the people that inhabit it.
- Get Out What You Put In: The Swords of Ditto hides many secrets and systems so the more a player puts into the game, the more the game reveals back to them.
Local Co-Op: The game supports local cooperative mode and the charmingly useful ability to resurrect your fellow adventures with a hug. It’s adorable.
