Echodog Games today announce Signs of the Sojourner, a narrative based deck-building game uniquely combining themes of communication, relationships and personal choice with sleek card game mechanics.
Alongside the teaser trailer, Echodog have also announced that players who sign up to their Discord will gain immediate access to their free alpha build – starting today.
The new announcement trailer showcases the simple, yet expressive ‘sequence-building’ gameplay mechanic, focusing on building narrative experiences, rather than winning encounters. Players will travel around a diverse, detailed world to collect cards, and then use them to communicate with those around them, all set with a backdrop of a beautiful, color-filled landscape.
In Signs of the Sojourner, your deck is your character. Every card you play dictates who you are, and where your story goes. Do you build a deck to appease others, or do you craft out who you really are?
Creative Director, Dyala Kattan-Wright said: “The original pitch was ‘a deck-building game where your deck is a metaphor for the type of person you are.’ Who hasn’t drawn a bad hand during a conversation with a joke that didn’t land or a miscommunicated thought?”
“We combined this idea with our desire to tell stories about travel and diverse communities, about finding a home and connecting.”
“We hope Signs of the Sojourner is a type of game that players haven’t seen before but an experience that they can relate to.”
Players can keep up to date on the development of Signs of the Sojourner by following their Twitter, and access the free alpha demo now on their Discord.
