WORLD OF HORROR, the unsettling cosmic horror retro RPG from developer Panstasz and publisher Ysbryd Games, unleashes eldritch madness onto Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4|5 simultaneously alongside PC’s 1.0 release via Steam, GOG, itch.io, and Microsoft Store, on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023, as seen today at the Guerrilla Collective Showcase.
The year is 198X. Madness plagues the residents of the seaside town of Shiokawa. The Old Gods have returned to satiate their bottomless hunger for despair. Unspeakable monstrosities hide around every corner. Investigate the harrowing happenings, perform arcane rituals with scavenged artifacts in an attempt to delay the inevitable, or crumble with the Earth itself.
Delve into 20 curated mysteries with endless replayability. For those craving more content, modding tools in the PC version can provide access to custom mysteries devised by the fiendish imagination of fellow players, or even to create one’s own mysteries.
Fill in the stylistic gaps of what lies behind each corner in its 1-bit artwork crafted entirely on Microsoft Paint and inspired by vintage Macintosh graphics. With its eerie rural city scenes and psychologically thrilling monsters and bosses, WORLD OF HORROR feels like a page torn straight from the works of Junji Ito and H.P Lovecraft.
“I am forever grateful for the community that has surrounded WORLD OF HORROR during its years in development,” said Pawel Kozminski, founder of Panstasz. “I’m really looking forward to welcoming console players to the true world of horror that PC players have been enjoying and all the wicked content from the PC modding community that will be added to our pool of twisted mysteries!”
WORLD OF HORROR will be available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and PS4 for $19.99 with language support for English, German, French, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean and Polish.
