During the Festival of Gup, Risk of Rain’s digital 10-year anniversary celebration, Gearbox Publishing unveiled two new projects alongside the much anticipated launch of Risk of Rain Returns.
The first of those two projects announced was Risk of Rain 2: Seekers of the Storm, the second expansion for the wildly popular roguelike. This new expansion will feature new Survivors, tons of new items, enemies, stages, and more.
Risk of Rain: Hostile Worlds was also introduced and will be a free-to-play roguelike action RPG for Android and iOS that combines the series’ energetic bullet-hell gameplay with hero collecting. Players will assemble teams of Survivors from the franchise’s largest cast to date to explore the Versanto system.
Additionally, the publisher released the eagerly awaited Risk of Rain Returns, a comprehensive reimagining of the classic Risk of Rain, on PC and Nintendo Switch, and brought the Risk of Rain 2: Survivors of the Void expansion to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. The title is also available on Xbox Series S|X and PlayStation 5 via backward compatibility.
Beyond expanding the franchise’s universe of games, Gearbox has also announced the Risk of Rain 10 Year Anniversary Documentary which will go live this week. This documentary – a first for the franchise – traces the incredible journey as the game first emerged from the creative minds of its two co-creators, Duncan Drummond and Paul Morse, through today as it has become one of the defining franchises of the roguelike genre.
