[REVIEW] Funko Fusion (PS5)

Funko Fusion was a game that I was excited about because I thought “Oh this is going to be like a LEGO game”, because of all the IPs that they were going to have and the gameplay kinda looked fun from the trailers I saw. If you don’t know, Funko Fusion is a third-person action game that’s all about celebrating fandom. Play with some of your favorite characters from across TV, movies, games, and comics, and explore handcrafted worlds inspired by Jurassic World, Back to the Future, JAWS, The Thing, Chucky, Battlestar Galactica, Hot Fuzz, The Umbrella Academy, Five Nights at Freddy’s, Masters of the Universe, Invincible, and many more! I got a code from Keymailer, which I love as a platform especially when you don’t have a connection directly with a publisher.

Now to get the PROs and CONs.

PROs:

  • The IPs, I guess?

CONs:

  • The NPCs are always in the way, especially during timed puzzles. I got stuck so many times because NPCs just got in my way and I had to redo the triggers.
  • The gameplay in general and the puzzles are kinda basic, really basic and feel like a kid’s game
  • Super buggy, I’m pretty sure that I got stuck in the BattleStar Galactica section of the game, I think I was suppose to trigger a cut scene or something but it never happened so I just kept failing.

Ultimately, Funko Fusion fell really really short in both gameplay and expectations. I wish I could recommend this game, but honestly I would wait for it to be on sale if you really want to play this game out. Honestly wait for a GamePass option or even PS+ option, because I don’t think that the game is worth it, unless the publisher can improve the game via updates cause honestly it’s just not for me.
